A Computer Centre

With the kind donation from St Stithians school, Amazing Grace Children's Home is finally able to realise the dream of a sophisticated Computer Centre. The Computer Centre was envisioned and established at the beginning of 2006 and is up and running!

The computer network is linked to a hub that runs modules supporting the entire South African school curriculum. This means that there is assistance with homework, additional exercises and clear explanations. Thus just what the doctor ordered - a healthy dose of quality school work.

This dream will mean that the kids at Amazing Grace will be able to upgrade their level of education and literacy - not only on computers but also in language.

Currently there are 8 computers in the centre and we are looking at installing an ADSL line. Should you have a good computer that is looking for a new home, be able to help with the ADSL - we would be only too happy to add this into the network, kindly contact Rasada 011 728 1542.

Two Stars at CIDA

One of the dreams of Amazing Grace Children's Home is to support it's children in life, and not to abandon them after they have finished high school. Every effort is made to identify the dreams of our young aspirants and to support them in the realisation of their dreams. Two shining examples are Professor and Wonder who are both currently studying at CIDA - a university with a vision to empower bright young people.

Both Professor and Wonder completed a successful bridging year in 2006 and are now getting their teeth into the first year of university. Not only are they getting a first class tertiary education, but they have also grown as people. Wonder is fast becoming the local mathematics genius and offers extra classes to his fellow students, while Professor is a whizz and is actively involved in the Computer Centre at CIDA. Professor is also mentoring the children at Amazing Grace Children's Home where a Computer Centre has recently been established.

Two shining examples who have not forgotten their roots, they both visit Amazing Grace regularly and support their "brothers" and "sisters" with homework. Wonder also teaches from the bible, while Professor teaches yoga!

Amazing Grace Children's Home - Eikenhof, Johannesburg
Just south of Johannesburg is a real opportunity to connect with the over 60 amazing kids at Amazing Grace Children's Home. It's a real buzz of all ages, a few little ones under one and some kids in their final year of high school. It's a real gift being able to spend time with these kids, getting a big smile and sometimes even a hug when you arrive is a blessing, an experience that opens the heart without fail.

There is much excitement with the new Wendy House donated by St Stithians School which will be used as the new nursery school where over 15 kids are taught the basics from colours to numbers. The sweetest is a visit at nap time when the floor is covered in little matresses and sleeping angels. Then there's the joyous exuberance when everyone wakes up or sings together.

It is a special treat to see them so happy and carefree and obviously having a great time, so much so that one is completely re-energised after a visit.

Come and visit!  Call Rasada 011 728 1542 to arrange.
